Unusual ozone hole opens over the Arctic
by European Space Agency
a hole over the arctic was found filled
with gaseous nanobots of an unknown origin
holes in the ozone no zone frozen skids
we banked down from 10,000 feet
towards the darkened runway
hoping our electronics housing
was insulated against the minus 80 C air
we dared ourselves brave men and women
those who would scoop the air
with a flare for the dramatic
and bring samples
of this alien gas
back to the surface labs
there were naysayers
doomsayers
knitting layers
and sweater brigades
all protesting this incursion
as being too dangerous
or none too soon
personally i watched the sweater brigadists
with bobby socks
and plaid skirts
i never lost my fantasy
meeting in the library, after hours
an older woman dressed as a school girl
therein eye began to have doubts
of our uniqueness
in the universe
being the only bipedal intelligent beings
portals
i began to ruminate
holes in the ozone
were portals
to ferret the loot
plundered by sentient greed
snooze radio hear say
the chinese are in cahoots
they wear fashionable boots
that glow on the dark side
of the moon
they watch the watchers warehouses
filled with frozen stiffs, cures and cancers alike
waylaying distractions
while sowing wild-ing
and waiting for the desperation
of our humanity to spike
then they hike the price
and float down the miracles
saying every disaster
every mass grave thereafter
is another reason why
we need to keep
the economy alive

Oh! Lo and behold! I'm liken' those "holes in the ozone no zone frozen skids
ReplyDelete…holes in the ozone were portals"
✍ twas a fun prompt ... gratitude!
DeleteEdward, I like this one, I enjoyed the ride. Familiar things begin to click with the "portal". Then the bottom line, "saying every disaster every mass grave thereafter is another reason why we need to keep the economy alive". So give the rich another tax break and charge us peons more to keep the economy rolling.
ReplyDeleteThank you for peeking in on my Day 7. Stay Safe,
