Maxfield
Parrish ‘Stars’ 1926
|
to wish upon a star
we
look with our
heads
back and
our
necks craned
with
our palms up and
out
we tremble with impermanence
we
must never forsake love
in
any form, even if we ourselves
cannot
understand the ramparts
it
leaves us with
life
is filled with it and
it
will always find us
even
in our quietest moment
asking
us to take stock
of
what we have or can ever know and
it
says to empty everything that stays
inside
us and to understand
that
wind and time
carves
us all, stardust again...
