houses
that holy earth mothers draw
silhouettes
and
windows
are all
we've
driven
by
in
rabbit hole
eat
me
from
dusk
until
dawn
we
know
what
holds us
courtesans
in paper thin
midnights
with services
drawing legs and
straws
for stone
lottery
trips
the
places
where
glass
looks
back at us
neighborhood
after
neighborhood
street,
fences
the
woods
outside
the
call
of
highway and
crack
curtains
we
made
the
ascent
watched
the
smog
stop choking
the
trees around
seven
thousand feet
the thinning
air
is
declared
the
kingdom
we are left wanting
milk and hunger
slowing
our progress
