a dusty and wax sealed healing jar dance

The Headache, colour etching by George Cruikshank, c. 1830.

when I was
something I used
to believe in
it seemed easier
to ignore pain

heard medicine
helps memories
go down
rabbit holes
and prayers
looking glass
willing broken
gone missing
with parts
never found

a poet following beauty
exacting a demanding price
my moral divinity bargained
for my fleeting infinities

my knees came to play
wooden pew prey pantry floor
here I'm wishing, another before
